These last six months have been quite eventful. In September, I finally published book two 'O What a Tangled Web! '. Then it was onwards, or perhaps backwards depending how you look at it, getting the first two books translated into Spanish. The process was quite arduous and complicated, but well worth the effort, I hope.
This week book one ´ A Woman Scorned´ was published in Spanish as ´Una Mujer Despreciada´ and is available online and in my local bookshops.
The rest of this month of February will be spent getting book two published in Spanish under the name '¡Qué Telaraña tan Enredada! ', which is quite a mouthful! I just need to justify the text so it can be easily uploaded as a paperback or an e-book, then the cover has to be resized to fit the book, then it’s just a matter of uploading it to Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Apple Books. Simple really, not!
Then, I shall be hard at work on book three. I do admit I have some text written already, from when I was attached to a vanity publisher. I had published 'A Woman Scorned' with them and had finished 'O What a Tangled Web'. Book two was then passed out to my editor for her to look at the text from a grammatical and punctuation point of view. While she was hard at work at that, I started on book three.
I do not know how other authors write, if they have a particular method to their writing process, I only know how I write. Firstly, I get the idea and write down a few notes. I don't want to get into telling you any specifics, because I don't want to spoil the surprise but then, I do my research. An example of this was in book two I looked into how the big win of a lottery was paid out, finding out that it was paid directly into your bank account at your bank and not by the lottery shop. For book three the research is a bit different, but I cannot reveal any part of my research, as it will give the game away.
Then I decide on my characters, and there are quite a few to 'flesh out'. Well to start with I have to decide what sort of murder there is going to be, who is going to do the murdering, and to whom. Then it is a case of writing some background to bring these characters, that only appear in this book, to life. We shall still have our favourite detectives Morgan and Morales, of course! Sarah, the translator is back in book three, and she is about to take on a different role, and … no you shall have to wait and buy the book!
So, when I have published the Spanish version of book two I shall be returning to the typewriter, well the laptop actually, and hammer away at the keys for several months, writing the story, changing it around, adding bits and leaving other bits out, until I am happy that I have a story that I can give to you, my dear reader!!
Then, in September, I shall publish book three. Shall I let you into a little secret? The name of the book? Okay, here you go then - 'Deadlier than the Male'. I hope you are looking forward to it already!
Don't forget to review books one and two on Amazon, Good Reads and Book Bub etc. it really helps us authors to know how we are doing.
