Well, it looks like I am back to talking about plans and planning!
Last year the summer holiday was cancelled as I was waiting for a hip operation and the pain was such that it was better to be at home. This year we have rebooked to go where we intended to go last year, with a few amendments.
We also have another little issue facing us, John had to have a small procedure, and the day we go on holiday we have to be at the hospital to see the specialist, in the morning so it will not delay our holiday too much.
I remember going on holiday years ago, we packed our bags, locked the doors and departed! Since we have stopped imposing on my brother to look after the dogs we have used the services of house and pet sitters. Facebook has two very good sites where pet owners can post their dates and requirements and sitters can make contact and pitch for the job. For people like us, we know our dogs will be well looked after, as will the house, and the plants will be watered too. For the sitter they get to travel to places new, have free accommodation and make new friends, the dogs!
It was months ago that we booked the hotels, mostly in Castilla La Mancha, the land of Don Quixote, and we organised the sitter well in advance too, as it was the person we had arranged to sit last year, so when we cancelled them last year, we asked them to keep the same dates free in 2024.
It’s strange how my holidays have changed since I met John. I used to go back to the UK now and again, at Christmastime. However, once John and I had our honeymoon, where we travelled to the other end of Andalucía and back, we have found there is plenty to explore in this beautiful country of Spain, so we shall continue going to new places every year.
Well, my next blog will be late, as we do not return until July 31st, but when I do write the holiday blog, you can be sure there will be lots of photos.
