Spring! Some say it is the best season of them all.
To my mind all the seasons have their merit, but Spring is special in so many ways. It heralds the end of winter, which to us in Europe means the end of the cold weather, the early dark nights and the blooming of spring flowers.
Here in Spain the sky is blue, the sun is shining, the temperature is rising and the hoopoes have returned. Gradually we are shedding clothes and changing the winter quilt to the lighter one.
However, Spring also holds many other possibilities. A renewal of energy and enthusiasm for projects that have perhaps been on hold. Although book 2 is not published yet, book 3 is nudging me to write more!
Soon I shall be out in the garden potting the new annual plants, and tending to the perennials. There is the desire to get out into the fresh air, even go for a drive which isn’t just for necessary shopping, but can be just for the joy of being out in the sunshine.
Easter is only a few weeks away and I am looking forward to chocolate eggs and hot cross buns. There are still some British traditions that I like to enjoy, though usually they involve fattening foods, not too good for the waistline, but a treat now and again is fully acceptable and allowable.
So, welcome spring!
