Software for Digital Scrapbooking

Since I began digital scrapbooking in 2005, people have asked me various questions about creating their own digital scrapbook pages – how do I do it? What software do I use and how much does it cost? Is it easy to learn? Until recently I was never able to give a very helpful answer.

In 2011, I was given a copy My Memories Suite digital scrapbooking software to review and also create content specially designed for its users. Not only was I incredibly impressed with how simple it makes it to create individual photo layouts but I was blown away by all the enhancements the program offers such embedding video, photobook printing and even having the software automatically build an album for you.  This video shows some of the amazing things you can do with this software. Since it was produced, even more features have been added such as the ability to zoom in on a page for precise editing and more drag-and-drop functionality (digital scrapbook papers, embellishments, shapes, etc.) It also has a word art creator.

Version 3 of this program now comes preloaded with even more content – over 1000 papers and embellishments plus 30 album templates. You can shop for more digital scrapbook kits, embellishments, word art, monograms and templates from right inside the program. Additionally, you can import content that has been purchased or downloaded from other digital scrapbooking sites. Some other digital scrapbooking programs will not let you use papers, embellishments or other proucts not purchased from the company that makes the software.

Tutorial, Support and Help

There are many tutorials available on the My Memories Facebook channel. Of course, a user’s manual is included too. There is also a forum on the site and an active Facebook community where you can share layouts and ask questions.The increased popularity of photo books is a trend that will continue to explode! Once a set of scrapbook pages is created, it is relatively inexpensive and quick to duplicate those pages. In addition to duplicating books for both sets of grandparents, look for these new ideas: small paper-bound books for all members of a sports team, books for all participants of a group trip, etc. The possibilities are endless!
